Great success of the 2nd ELIPTIC webinar
The 2nd ELIPTIC webinar on "E-bus planning supported with simulation tools" took place on April 7 and attracted more than 30 attendees. It was the second in a series of three scheduled throughout the ELIPTIC project.
The webinar was attended by more than 30 professionals from different backgrounds such as consultancies, public transport operators, city administrations as well as the industry sector from all over Europe. Simulation tools help public authorities in the planning of e-bus systems and electrification of their fleets. They are an integral part of the work in the use cases of Pillar A “Safe integration of e-Buses using existing electric public transport infrastructure” of the...
2nd ELIPTIC webinar: E-bus planning supported with simulation tools
Simulation tools help public authorities in the planning of e-bus systems and electrification of their fleets. This topic will be presented during the 2nd ELIPTIC webinar from 10:00 to 11:30 CET on 7 April 2017. Simulations are an integral part of the work in the use cases of Pillar A “Safe integration of e-Buses using existing electric public transport infrastructure” of the ELIPTIC project.
Brussels completes feasibility study to improve energy efficiency in tram network
Brussels Use Case leader, STIB, has completed a feasibility study to optimise the braking energy recovery in their tram network. The feasibility study was completed thanks to a thorough measurement campaign and the development of models and simulations of tram lines 7, 19 and 94.
One of the possible ways to reduce energy consumption in a tram network is to capture the braking energy that is generated by tramways during braking. In regular operation, a small share of this energy is reused by the vehicle auxiliaries, another part is sent back to the overhead line to power other vehicles. This latter share depends on the traffic conditions and characteristics of the network. The remaining...
First ELIPTIC feasibility studies completed
The first ELIPTIC feasibility studies in Brussels, Bremen, Leipzig and Eberswalde have been completed with interesting results.
ELIPTIC cities and industry partners contribute to ZeEUS eBus Report
The long-awaited publication – ZeEUS eBus Report is available online. The report gives an extensive overview of the electric buses in operation in Europe today, along with the different solutions available on the markets today. It is obvious that the electrification of public transport is high on the priority list of cities and public transport agencies and operators.
A wide range of technological solutions exist for the electrification of public transport, but every choice is dependent on the local situation and can result in a different total cost of ownership. Therefore, this report aims to provide the reader with an overview of experiences from various cities, and to demonstrate the...
Season's greetings from the ELIPTIC project!
Latest CIVITAS Policy Note “Smart choices for cities. Alternative Fuel Buses” is available online
This policy analysis focuses on the topic of alternative fuel buses for public transport. This is a hot topic because the introduction of the clean buses is necessary in order to reach the EU air quality targets and clearly impacts a cities CO2 footprint. This document gives in-depth background information to come to a decision on which bus to choose for your city. It provides information, which can help policy makers at European municipalities, public transport authorities and local decision makers for their choice of clean(er) public bus transport.
The document is available here.
