Great success of the first ELIPTIC - CiViTAS webinar
The first ELIPTIC - CiViTAS webinar took place on the 29th of April 2016. The webinar was entitled “Optimised braking energy recovery in electric public transport systems” and it is the first of a series of three scheduled throughout the ELIPTIC project.
The webinar was attended by more than 30 professionals belonging to public transport operators, the industry sector and academy from all over Europe. From 18 to 21 April Warsaw held the most important event in Europe for transport research - Transport Research Arena 2016 (TRA 2016). How Transport for London selected their demonstration site to charge e-buses using underground rail network
Transport for London (TfL) plans on delivering an ELIPTIC demonstration to show the use of the London Underground (LU) electrical distribution network to support the overnight recharging of single deck electric buses.
Bus services in London are managed by TfL but delivered under contract by private companies. The network comprises around 700 bus routes, 79 bus stations, 78 bus depots and ~19500 bus stops served by approximately 8500 vehicles (Fig 1). Most bus garages and stations are privately owned. This coupled to the complex geography of the bus and London Underground network has posed a number of challenges in terms of identifying a suitable demonstration site.
